The lake is popular for fishing, boating, and water sports. The lake is stocked with channel catfish, largemouth bass, bluegill, and crappie. There is a boat ramp on the northwest side of the lake, and a fishing dock on the southeast side. The lake was named after 11th Avenue, which runs alongside it. The name Big Eleven Lake was first recorded in 1939
